Cap Construction Guide

The cap is the foundation of your piece: how it fits, how it feels against your scalp, how much it breathes. Understanding the differences is worth the few minutes it takes.

Lace front

Pieces with a sheer lace panel across the front hairline. This creates a natural-looking hairline while the rest of the cap is a more standard construction. They're lighter than full lace, more affordable, and perfectly suited to most everyday needs.

Full lace

Pieces with lace across the entire cap. This gives you more versatility in how you part and style the hair, and tends to feel lighter and more breathable. For women with sensitive scalps or total hair loss, full lace is often the preferred choice.

Monofilament

Construction uses a thin, skin-toned mesh at the crown where each hair strand is individually hand-sewn. This creates the most natural-looking scalp appearance when the hair is parted, and is particularly helpful for women with thinning on top.

What matters for hair loss

If your scalp is sensitive (from chemotherapy, alopecia, or any other cause) the material against your skin matters a great deal. Look for hypoallergenic cap interiors, and consider full lace for maximum breathability. Avoid pieces with hard seams directly over areas of sensitivity.

At Mazel Tov Hair

All our pieces use HD lace, a thinner, more transparent lace that blends with a wider range of skin tones and creates a more natural-looking hairline. Every piece includes an adjustable elastic band and is designed to be worn without glue.
